Personally, I read The Psycho before reading any of the Sandland books, and I still thoroughly enjoyed both The Psycho and Renegade Hearts, although I will say that Olivia is doubtlessly my favorite Sandland girl…but I suppose that’s all a matter of opinion.Īdam is a great character. It’s very interesting to see the Sandland characters from another perspective. The reader is led into another action scene in which we find out the events of the most recent Sandland book, and how the Soldiers know the Sandland lot. This is an interesting take and helps the reader to identify more with these characters, which is especially helpful to those readers who have read the Rebels of Sandland series before reading this book, as there is a lot of overlap, although the reader doesn’t have to have read the series before reading this book in order to understand everything that’s going on, which is another thing that the skilled author handles well, catching the reader up to speed on the Sandland characters without bogging the reader down with it. I like that the reader is shown this early on in the book, and I also appreciate that the novel opens with an action-packed scene.Īs the scene winds down and the characters-the Soldiers-head back to their base, we learn a little bit about each character, all from Adam’s perspective.
First of all, I enjoyed how the book opens with an action scene that serves well to both introduce the reader to the new characters, but also gives the reader a good idea of what the characters are like and what they stand for, as well as allowing the reader to realize what they are in store for in this book, which is a dark book with brooding and sometimes brutal characters and situations. However, today I’ll be writing about The Psycho. While I still have to say that This Cruel Love is my favorite book by the author, so far The Psycho is my second favorite, although I am also very eagerly anticipating the release of her book The Reaper, which is the story of one of the new characters introduced in the author’s Soldiers of Anarchy series.
Overall I truly did enjoy this book, just has I have with every Nikki J Summers book I’ve read so far. This is a dark romance, new adult novel, and I was extremely excited to read it back in October of 2021, soon after it was released.
